What to expect after getting your piercing?

Initially: Some bleeding, localised swelling, tenderness & bruising.

During healing: Some discolouration, itching, secretion of a whitish fluid (not pus) that will form some crusts around the jewellery.

4 Tips for Cleaning your Piercings

The first step to healed piercings? A solid cleaning routine. Find out our four non-negotiables when it comes to cleaning.

Clean your piercing with the A&M Aftercare Solution twice a day until it is fully healed. You should do this for a minimum of 2-3 months for lobes, and a minimum of 6-12 months for cartilage, and whenever your piercing is irritated.

Before touching or cleaning your piercing, make sure you wash your hands to avoid any risk of infection.

Make sure you spray the A&M Aftercare Solution to the front and back of your piercing.

After showering or cleaning your piercing, make sure you dry the area with a clean paper towel or a hair dryer on the cold setting.

Things to avoid

Here are some extra tips from us with things to avoid after getting your piercing with us.

Try not to swim for four weeks after your piercing. Avoid swimming in public baths or the sea too, as this could prolong the healing.

Where possible avoid sleeping on your piercing while it's healing, as it can cause irritation.

Wait until your piercing has fully healed before changing the jewellery. You can book a jewellery change by contacting your nearest A&M store.

Other than cleaning, try not to touch your piercings. When you do have to touch them, always make sure you wash your hands!

Avoid swimming for 4 weeks

Try not to swim for four weeks after your piercing. Avoid swimming in public baths or the sea too, as this could prolong the healing.

Try not to sleep on your piercings

Where possible avoid sleeping on your piercing while it's healing, as it can cause irritation.

Don't change the jewellery too soon

Wait until your piercing has fully healed before changing the jewellery. You can book a jewellery change by contacting your nearest A&M store.
